The Plan, The Process, and the Party
Planning an event—whether it’s a high-stakes fundraiser or a wedding that actually feels like you—is supposed to be exciting. But somewhere between the endless emails, the budget spreadsheets, and the seating chart, I’ve watched too many people lose the magic under all the stress. You lose sight of your mission, vision, and values, under the pressure.
I started Sequin Situation because I knew it didn't have to be that way. I wanted to build a way of planning where flawless logistics exist to serve the celebration, not ruin the fun. Where we create a sense of belonging, and just just host a party. We start looking at the “heart” of the event, so ensure everyone belongs.
THE “WHYS” I LIVE BY
Vision before spreadsheets
Budgets are important (and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely respect and plan with them in mind), but if we start counting pennies before we know how we want guests to feel, the event loses its soul. I always start with the feeling first so every dollar spent actually serves a purpose. What is the event’s Mission, the Vision, and values?
Radical transparency
No hidden fees, no gatekept vendor lists, no mysterious jargon. You deserve total clarity on where your money is going and what’s happening behind the scenes.
Structure creates freedom
Timelines and contracts aren't meant to make a day feel rigid. They exist to build a safety net so that when the doors open, you can completely let go and actually be present at your own party.
Data Parties
Data is meant to be collected, reviewed and evaluated, to help in determining decisions points for the future. Let's nerd out and have a data party.
HOW THE MAGIC ACTUALLY HAPPENS
The Foundation & Vibe Check
This is where we sit down and discuss the Event’s Mission, your Vision for the event, and the Values we plan by. We get honest about goals, aesthetics, and non-negotiables. Whether we're designing a donor experience or an unconventional party, this is where we lock in the identity.
My absolute favorite moment is when a client tells me a wild idea they thought was 'too much” and I get to say “YES, let's do it!”
The Logistics Engine
Once the identity of the event is determined, I go full strategy mode behind the scenes. I source vendors (primarily focus on Queer, BIPOC, and women-owned businesses), venues, and unique activities. I build custom timelines, tackle vendor contracts, track every budget line item, and troubleshoot potential roadblocks long before they ever reach you.
This is when I create your v hub, to include your custom timeline, budgets, vendor lists, mood board, etc. You will be able access all planning details, in real time, as we move through the planning process.
Day-Of Execution
When the big day arrives, your only job is to show up, host, and celebrate. I’m on the floor managing setup and vendors, quietly extinguishing unexpected fires out of sight, and keeping the energy flowing.
At the end of the day, planning a sparkly “situation” shouldn't feel like taking on a second full-time job. You bring the vision, I'll bring the strategy—and together, we'll build something unforgettable.
I couldn't help but wonder... are you ready to hand over the stress and actually enjoy the process?
And just like that... oops, I sparkled again.
